Inspiring interview with Dr. Merritt Moore, Ballerina and Scientist
I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Dr. Merritt Moore, professional ballet dancer and also astrophysicist, and speak to her about all things related to career, mindset and why you don’t have to choose between your passions.
If you’re not familiar with Merritt Moore, there are a lot of reasons why you should keep reading and listening - she’s a professional ballet dancer who beat a lot of odds when she in spite of starting her training at the age of twelve (which in the ballet world is considered late) went on to become a professional dancer. Not only that, she also worked hard to complete a Physics degree from Harvard and a PhD in Astrophysics from Cambridge University.
The interview, which was conducted for non-profit organisation Dancers’ Career Development, turned into a long conversation on persisting in spite of being told no, mentors and role models, as well as the importance of working on your mindset alongside your skills and goals. Merritt, with her blossoming dance career as well as her degrees from Harvard and Oxford Universities, is a true inspiration to all of us, and a teacher in what it truly means to be resilient.
